Clough Tavern Farm – Roving

$20.00

Some wool is carded into finger roving for hand spinning, felting, textile art and other crafts. Roving is the final stage in the commercial fiber preparation before yarn is spun.

Description

The majority of our Scottish Blackface raw wool clip is washed and carded into roving or spun into yarn off the farm, at Bartlettyarns.

It is a blend 5:1 (Scottish Blackface Sheep to Blueface Leicester Sheep).

Because Scotties do not naturally have a pure white fleece, the undyed yarn is a rich off-white, “blooming” with a wash. It dyes nicely/richly.

The finished wool is exceptionally hard wearing, featuring a natural spring—perfect for a warm sweater yet fine enough for a pretty shawl or hat.
